5 out of 5 stars Awesome!   December 8, 2008
I think this book is fantastic. I've trained for years and find there are many things that I still need to learn and 'unlearn'.
Martin, thanks for the many concepts that I am now taking advantage of because of your book..

4 out of 5 stars Training For Warriors? NO! Training For MMA Fighters? Most Definitely!   October 21, 2008
Don't let the title fool you, this is not a book about training actual warriors, but it is a book about training MMA competitors. HUGE difference! Okay, now that I have that small detail off my chest, on with the review.

I really like the fact that the author used an abundance of color photographs printed on glossy paper to show the wide variety of training exercises throughout the book. I felt that it really enhanced the quality of the book itself, though not necessarily the quality of the material presented, although in this case it did.

I was a little bit disappointed in the "Warrior Mind" section as all it really appeared to be was a collection of quotes from various sources and not really anything at all on how to develop the proper mindset for competition. Something that this book really should have delved into.

The author covers a lot of ground concerning various training techniques and exercises, but seems to drop the ball a bit on providing detailed explanations to go along with each technique shown. The author also briefly covers other areas such as; injuries, cutting weight, etc. All very important subjects that a competitive MMA fighter should be educated on. However, as I stated earlier, I felt that the author was a bit too brief in his explanations and really should have provided a lot more detailed information in each section.

3 out of 5 stars A lot and a little.   August 10, 2008

This book is filled with Exercises, which is great.
What it lacks is detail. Details about why or how the exercises really work. It's just a very general "this works on your hamstrings" without the "this is why the exercise is effective".

2 out of 5 stars good if your looking for exersises to build muscle or endurance   July 23, 2008

If you are at the very beginning of your training and have never done sports before in your life then this is a good book for you. If your looking for more of a stratigical more informational book then dont bother. It does give te reader a little insite on the MMA life style and mentality. It is also chock full of quotes form famous people and photos. It takes up alot of the books volume actually is photos and quotes. But mostly about what muscles to target and many ways build them. Has a chapter on nutrition, endurence and a small incomplete chapter about enjuries and mentality. If your looking for something more indept, try something else.
