Roberto BenitezRoberto Benitez, the 2004 Bantamweight Representative to the U.S.A.Olympic Boxing Team is soon to be in action again.  Benitez actually stopped by the site and had this to say about How to Box:

"The site is pretty cool though. With time things will get better and more ideas will arise which is a good thing.  It's like a project..  I will continue to look over the site..  It is a good way to network as well..  good stuff."

My first celebrity endorsement - awesome.  Anyways, here is the rest of the press release.

Benitez, since making his Professional Debut in April of 2005 on ESPN Friday Night Fights has issued challenges to the Boxing Community to fight him.

Roberto, who is 10 Times National Champion of the United States, is willing to fight the best in the business. The charismatic Benitez who has boxed on HBO as an amateur, and has appeared in Sports Illustrated knows his time will come with patience.

Team Benitez,  which includes Roberto's Trainers and Business Representatives are very proud of their charge.

Roberto Benitez is a rare find in the boxing world as he is not only a talented boxer, but one with a Business Degree from Northern Michigan University. Benitez .  As the President of his own Corporation (Team Benitez), rightfully has high expectations for his boxing career. A quote from Benitez " I've been boxing since I was ten years old, and I have surrounded myself with hard working, experienced people. With me is my trainer Ray Velez, and my amateur and Olympic Coach Al Mitchell, my cutman /cornerman Fred Corritone has been in the business more than 30 years, and they share my vision."

Roberto is now 3 and 0 with 2 K O's and has made a business move that has him, and everyone associated with his Team very excited! Looking ahead to becoming the Super Bantamweight Champion of the World, Benitez has inked a Multi Fight Deal with a prominent Promoter.

In the works right now are fight dates, and at least one fight is planed for this year in New York City where Roberto was raised. He is the first New Yorker to make the United States Olympic Boxing Team since 1988 when Riddock Bowe made the Team! ! !

Roberto Benitez has been training at his home in Central Florida since the first of this year as his Representatives Randall Wilds, and Paul D'Antuono both Union Negotiators along with Attorney Vinny Flynn of Miami, have been in negotiations with Benitez's new Promoter, and have came away with a deal that everyone is pleased with.

A quote from Roberto " it's a contract that has my future maped out, the Promoter has seen, and shares my vision.. He's a pro active man with friends. I'm happy."

Benitez and his Team have been asked to hold on to the details until the press conference  to be announced shortly.

As always Roberto asks his fans to lend their support, and in return he promises to fight as hard as he can.

Please heeeeeeelp

Hi, i'm 17, 5' 9", and almost 140. I'm in pretty good shape and I have very little fat. I've been weight training lately, and have been gaining weight. Over summer I bought two pairs of boxing gloves, and me and my friends randomly box if we get bored. I always do research and try to get better before i box with my friends again, but it seems like the more i learn the worse i am getting. My story is kind of like the guy who posted here before with the video, where his opponent threw all these punches and he ended up turtling. The more i learn, the more scared i get of getting hit. As in, before i would swing a lot more, which meant leaving myself open more but taking chances and taking shots. Now i find myself flinching more and turtling once my opponent swings a lot. Sometimes i get too focused on guarding my face that i leave my gut open, and just get nailed in the stomach, knocking the wind out of me. I know all my opponents leave themselves open a lot, but i just can't seem to take advantage of them. Today i boxed a person who was thirty pounds heavier than me, but had never boxed in his life. He probably had the worst form in the world, but took a lot of swings. I kept turtling because his punches were overwhelming. (Sorry this is getting so long, and now to my point), i was wondering if you could give me any tips on learning how to take advantage of those opportunities when my opponent just swings out of control, and just putting to use all the research i have done because right now it feels like going crazy and throwing a lot of punches is better than being technical and fearful. thanks a lot.
