Eating right is hard to do and tracking what you eat is even harder. Whether you are a competitive boxer or are in it for the fitness, nutrition is a crucial part of the process. Meal planning is highly individualistic. What one person eats is not necessarily what someone else should eat. Your meal plan should be based on your goals in terms of weight loss or weight gain and specific sports objectives. Developing one meal plan and telling everyone to use it is not the way to go.
I've given you all the tools you need in the boxing nutrition portion of this site to help you develop your own meal plans. That knowledge and using some of the free services out there such as Allrecipes or Calorie-count and you can put together some plans on your own. However, it is highly time consuming and you're never 100% sure you are getting everything you need.
I've integrated a meal planning program into How to Box. It is a program I personally use to create my meal plans and ensure I get what I need in terms of vitamins and nutrients. Because you are a valued member of How to Box (or you should be), I am now able to offer Nutrition Generator to you. It's not my program (I didn't have $1.5 million dollars to develop it
).
If you are trying to follow the 12 week program or any program:
You owe it to yourself to use this meal planning system. Exercise can only do so much and will do absolutely nothing if you aren't eating right. I can't stress this enough. If you went out and hired a nutritinionist to create meal plans for you, expect to pay at least $150/hour. Search the internet for meal plans and you will find good ones that cost $695 and generic programs ranging from $40/month to $149 for a downloadable program that runs off your computer. I know this to be fact as I searched long and hard for something worthwhile for How to Box members.
Nutrition Generator is fairly new and as such, in addition to being a How to Box member, will cost you only $9.95/month ($.33 cents a day). That price will increase in the future to $29.95/month, but if you lock in now at the early adopter rate, that is all you'll ever pay. If you grow tired of it, you can quit using it at anytime. There is no contract. I've been using it for over a year, love it, and will continue to use it. I know you will feel the same and you know why?
Because when you begin to eat healthier, you begin to look and feel better. You'll make incredible progress in your exercise programs and then wonder how you ever lived without Nutrition Generator.

Yes and No
Yes, you can construct a healthy meal plan following the principle you can learn elsewhere, but I caution you when you refer to common sense. Look at the obesity epidemic and tell me that common sense always prevails. For athletes, it is not common sense. Small changes in diet and nutrition can have huge impacts on performance and to label every website offering a way of developing and tracking those changes a ripoff is a gross over exaggeration. Believe it or not, there are a couple of good meal planning programs out there. This is one of them. I use it religiously and it actually simplifies my entire meal planning process right down to saving me money when I go grocery shopping, because everything is itemized. Nothing is wasted. I know exactly what I need every day and the plan I customized with this online software keeps me on track. I consider it as essential as my heavybag -- just my opinion.
Is it for everyone? Probably not. Is it for everyone trying to make substantial gains and performance improvements? -- then yes. Basic nutrition is not that hard to grasp as you put it, and it is laid out quite nicely on How to Box, but there are some aspects to advanced nutrition that not everyone is going to get - so labelling everything complex as BS is a bit harsh.
I understand the frustration of companies trying to rip people off by making things seem more complicated than they really are. I went through a number of meal planning "solutions" before I found this one. I don't plan on changing your mind or attitude, but I do take offence to your suggestion that How to Box is trying to rip people off. Some things you do have to pay for -- and I believe this meal planning software is one of those things.
my face hurts
Hello. I recently stepped into a ring with an apponant that throws a stiff jab, he throws a jab with power, but then he will hold it. I either cant return a punch or when i throw a punch im taking his fist head on. i know there is a big difference in size. hes 250pds and im 170. and he has at least 4 inches in length on his arms. he has a alot of upper strength so i cannot parry his arm in an effective way, and he ducks out to the left(if facing him) so i cant hit his head nor body. And are there any real boxing gymns in new bedford ma, that wont kill the pay check....i am having no luck searching for anything...please assist!

i haven't lived in mass for a while but i remember a lot of fighters at the gloves from new bed (i'm portuguese). you are so close to fall river, though, and i remember fighting someone from there. brockton can't be more than 1/2 hour from you, too. trying to find a good gym in brockton is like trying to find a cockroach in chelsea, not very hard.
