How to Put on Your Hand Wraps - Method 2

There are more than one way to wrap your hands for boxing. On the previous page, you learned the most basic method and that one is good for anyone starting out. It is easy and provides good protection. That said, there is a better method which offers even better protection and keeps the wraps in place over your knuckles a whole lot better. It takes a little getting used to as you will feel the wrap between your fingers, but the wrap will not slide off your knuckles even after the most rigourous session on the heavy bag.
I also find that this method is far superior to the basic method when throwing uppercuts on the heavy bag. I've experienced more knuckle scrapes with the basic method and uppercuts than with this method. Overall, it is a tighter, more secure wrap.

Mexican style...

Sup, Viper!

I recommend getting Mexican Style handwraps. They are roughly 180" long, which is perfect for this method of wrapping your hands. Also, they are slightly elasticised, so they conform more naturally to the shape of your hand.

 Hope that helps!

I've been cheating...

I picked up a pair of the Everlast EverGel Hand Wraps about a week ago, and they are pretty nice inside of my bag gloves. Make sure your bag gloves are big enough to take hand wraps with padding over the knuckles, though. They are substantially thicker than a normal wrap.

You will see some reviews saying they are not tough enough to take a lot of heavy bag work. This is true, as they are NOT bag gloves themselves. They are made to take the place of hand wraps used inside of bag gloves. For this, they work really well.

Even when I would get a nice wrap with the conventional wraps, after several sessions in a week, the skin between my knuckles was starting to get shredded. Now, between the Evergel wraps and the Rival elite bag gloves, I can beat that bag until my arms wear out, instead of my hands just becoming too raw. (It's not a case of wimpy hands, either. I've been working outside doing a fair amount of manual labor for the last 18-19 years. heh heh.)

Could you e-mail the second method of wraping between the fingers? This is the recommended method within in our Krav Maga training.
