Admin's Prediction: Gatti vs Baldomir

This is going to be a quick one. Gatti outmatches Baldomir so badly that I can almost guarantee a knockout in the early rounds. Baldomir has nothing on his side. He is older than Gatti, he has absolutely no power, and his skills do not even come close to what he is going to see in Arturo Gatti.

How he beat Zab Judah and Miguel Rodriguez -- I don't know.

Perhaps Baldomir is showing some spark of skill and if he wins this fight by some miracle, I will definitely think more of him, but as of right now I think he got where he is by luck and a couple of bad days by other fighters.

Gatti, on the other hand, has shown time and again that he possesses every trick, and the most incredible heart of any boxer to win. Baldomir is not ready for this fight. Baldomir cannot stop Gatti, he will keep on coming. Some of the hardest hitters in Gatti's division have floored him and he still gets up, rallies, and wins fights.

Baldomir is shooting blanks with only 12 knockouts in 50 plus fights. His punches do little damage, and against Gatti, he needs big guns which he does not have.

So, if you have a couple of minutes this evening, stop by HBO and watch what will surely be a quick and decisive fight. Just remember to plan something else for the evening, because Gatti should be finished with Baldomir before you finish your first beer.

Gatti to win by knockout in round 5 (and I'm being generous...) -- Go ahead Baldomir, prove me wrong, at least it will make for a good fight. As always, if you think I'm right, bet on it!.

Doh!

Well, I guess I now have to give Baldomir more credit. Knocked out Gatti at the end of the ninth. Looked like Gatti broke/injured his right hand back in round 4 or so and basically fought one handed for the next 5 rounds. That said, Baldomir fought really well in the beginning rounds, but layed off after a few and had they not exchanged blows like they did in the ninth, it may have gone to a decision in favour of Gatti. I guess that's what happens when one takes things for granted...

One other thing

Oh, and I forgot to mention I will take a good hard look at any fighter Buddy McGirt is training from now on. First Tarver and now Gatti -- in both instances the advice he was dishing out inbetween rounds was right out of it -- useless to be precise. Had I looked into Gatti's gameplan more, I should have seen the alarm bells when they decided to turn him into a strict boxer. I'm sorry, but if someone has a wild animal beneath the surface, you don't put a freakin harness on him, you work with that style, not try to whip it out of him.

I want to keep fighting because it is the only thing that keeps me out of the hamburger joints. If I don't fight, I'll eat this planet.
