Just try and move sideways if you can...... Towards his back. Maybe faking a little bit will help you get to him. In a situation like that I'd try and use kicks (i do karate), but I guess faking with your hands will do fine.

A little insight

Chris what you need to do with any boxer who likes to throw jabs like crazy is get inside. He is merely doing nothing but keepinbg you outside. In a situation Like that I always play the aggressor and bring the fight to him.Get inside work the body and in later rounds his rate of jabs will increase dramatically. Also use 45 degree angles spinning him making him chase you.You get him off balance this 3way with the jab which will eventually frustrate him into trying to land a hook or other powerhouse punch.Find your opening through timing his jab pattern and when you can work him into the ropes hit him good.As for getting faster get yourself some rubberbands for shadowboxing.Anytime you hit the bag use the heaviest gloves you can find.Remember training only improves skill in the ring but natural talent can never be learned by anyone you either have the ability or you dont.Let me know how you fair against this opponent next time you give him a match...Later on,Jimmy McCabe

Also...

Good advice by the Mangler. In addition to this, you could also try to time him with your right hand over the top. This should make him a little more wary to throw the jab. However!! and this is probably important: do not rely on this too much, or to frequently in a session. Your opponent might get smart, and time your right hand. But, use your discretion, and hopefully your right will scare him off a bit.

I have always adhered to two principles. The first one is to train hard and get in the best possible physical condition. The second is to forget all about the other fellow until you face him in the ring and the bell sounds for the fight.
