In The Spotlight

This is my first fight. I started boxing at the age of 29, 7 months earlier.
The bell went for the first round and any thoughts of boxing with any style went right out my head too. I've sparred much better but would welcome your thoughts on my performance and also any advice you all mighth have. Hoping to keep on boxing at amatuer level for another 4 years when this old man will have to hang up his gloves! So still time for plenty of improvement

Well, I wanna start off by

Well, I wanna start off by saying congrats on your win! Good job man. It doesnt seem to me that too much of your style of boxing skills went out of your head you did a good job on both defensive and offensive fronts. Seems like the second round was your best. You were able to setup your 1-2's very nicely with what seemed like decent power that dizzyed him a little. Only things i saw you did wrong were 1. You spent too much time head hunting when i saw great body shots available to you. 2. Waiting to counter punch a little too long sometimes, it worked on this guy because he was incredibly wide at times. Most of his misses threw him all the way off balance. Other than that great job man. Great footwork you move well. I liked your bobbing and weaving ability and at one point saw you bob and weave to the left immediatly doing it again to the right with your right locked and loaded ready to bang him with an uppercut but he was too far ahead and to the left of you. Seems like you definitly outboxed this guy. Keep it coming.

improvements

chris2 you did good but here are something you need 2 improve

  1. when you duck you look at the floor look at the other guy and you duck 2 low bearly duck 2 when the punch bearly misses most of the time the ref we tell you twice then take away a point
  2. use you jab more a lot more
  3. when you throw your left you throw without jabsing and you throw the wildy and you bring your jab hand down keep it up!
  4. i also saw you losing balance somw times keep your blance it will keep you from falling and will let you throw more puches and a bit hard 2
  5. and this one is just a tip when you move back take a step back foot first then bring you back foot back it confuses the guy alot of the times also i see that you conter more then going foward i dont really need 2 do this cause very few people can but try it when he throw a jab block it with you jabing hard and fire the right or you can also duck to the side he throw the jab and fire one 2 the ribs or you could duck 2 the inside and throw him a hard left since you a lefty well i hope this helps good luck

Thanks

Just wanted to say thanks for your comments!
I've listened to what you've had to say and am working on those points in the gym. Should have another fight coming in a couple of months when the season gets started again. I'll post it here again and hopefully you'll see some improvement.

Thank you once again!

I have always adhered to two principles. The first one is to train hard and get in the best possible physical condition. The second is to forget all about the other fellow until you face him in the ring and the bell sounds for the fight.
