...hurt so bad right now. My right one, actually.
I'm right handed so, obviously, I throw my hardest punches with my right hand. But my right wrist (and hand) hurts horribly after every workout with the heavybag, sometimes keeps hurting for a couple days. Maybe I'm not wrapping my hands correctly, although I'm following the instructions given on this site as close as possible (I have Everlast Mexican handwraps). It's still excruciating after all the adrenaline leaves me. Now I've heard that there's pretty much no way to make your wrists bigger, which is bad, because I have dainty, girly little hands and wrists, which would almost lead me to believe I'm not made for this. But there's got to be a way to strengthen it or something. Any exercises anyone knows? Or any other suggestions?
Edit: I've been looking at Everlast Evergel gloves to wear as a replacement (something fast like that would be very nice, too). Any experience?
Edit again: Lately, it's not just my wrists. It's my hands, too. I wrap the thing pretty tight, I really have no idea what the hell the problem is. This is very frustrating.

Damn, dude, you sound like a mess! Ha!! Just kidding. Especially when you're just starting out EVERYTHING hurts. Seriously.
Your wrists: 1st off, I have thin, girly hands & wrists, too. Ha!! That isn't the problem. The pain can be coming from a number of things. If you aren't accustomed to hitting things, you are probably causing minute hairline fractures in the bones of your hands and wrists. These are actually a good thing. They will heal, and your bones will be harder and more durable. This process however is EXTREMELY painful. I believe it happens to a lot of people. Don't worry...this will get better. To combat this: ice your hands after you work out. This is very important, so don't overlook it. In the long run, you will feel better if you do this dilligently after every workour. Also: make sure you're wearing good gloves. Gloves can be expensive, but that is one thing that you can't be cheap about. Protect your hands! Buy Everlast or another reputable brand of glove. Also, instead of little 8oz. bag-gloves, wear 12-16oz. training gloves. The extra padding in addition to properly wrapping your hands will save you a lot of pain.
Improper form: The pain (especially in your wrists) could be caused by improper form. Make sure your wrist is aligned with your arm and that you are making a complete fist when you punch.
Exercises: Unfortunately, i don't know any. I've been asking for recommendations, as well. (like i said, I too have dainty lil hands/wrists) You could buy some of those grip strengtheners, as I believe that utilizes wrist muscles, as well. I know I've seen wrist-stengthening contraptions in Everlast/Title catalogues, but can't attest to their worth. Sorry...
Evergel: I hate em. They give me blisters on the insides of my knuckles. Once, after a two hour training session, they had rubbed most of the skin off my knuckles. Some people swear by them. I don't. I would say that wraps offer much more protection.
Good luck with your pains, I know that can be a huge factor in making a person quit. I hope you can tough it out. You'll be a better man because of it.
Take care!!
Thanks for the reply. The thing that is most encouraging to me out of all that is that this pain is not a sign of impending doom - you know, club hands, permanent damage. I kept off the heavy bag for about three days now, just shadowboxed, and my hands feel great, I'm ready to go down and hit it now. I think a big part of it was that I wasn't giving my hands any time to rest, it was just like "Dammit, this hurts. Hopefully it'll stop soon. *punch-punch-punch*"
The gloves that I have are the ones that are always used for the "Boxing Store" picture, same color and everything, 16oz. Nice gloves, glad I'll be able to keep using them :)
Oh, and thanks for saving me that $20 for the Evergel.
I like the Evergels, too, so don't feel bad. If it works for you, why not use it?
I had the opposite problem: Ordinary wraps were shredding my knuckles after just two rounds. I got some better bag gloves and the Evergels, and now I go a full six three-minute-rounds, with no problems. (One minute between rounds, 10-second water break, 50-seconds spent doing cardio/calisthenics) The extra padding really helped me out, but keep in mind I'm a lot older. My bones and joints aren't as resilient, so I really need the extra padding. heh heh...
