Apparently, this fight is in the works: Sergio Mora vs. Jermain Taylor. I was a big fan of the Contender, and I think that Mora has some real natural talent. However, I see Taylor as being a legend in the making, and this fight seems like a ridiculous mismatch to me. Especially considering all the talent in the middle-weight division, guys like Miranda and Abraham (even Felix Sturm) who have fought their ways through the ranks and deserve a shot.

What do you all think? Mora/Taylor, should it happen? If not, who should challenge the throne?

My opinion: Arthur Abraham.

Mora v. Taylor

I agree with you almost completely, kami.  Mora has risen to the top in a very expediant fashion. And He has competed quite well.  I was extremely impressed with his win over Reegan. However I would like to see sergio in a couple more fights before he gets his title shot. I hope that it will be mora and taylor in a title bout.

me too...

Especially since they have so much history together. They fought in the amateurs, in fact, if I remember correctly Taylor beat Sergio and prevented him from making it onto the olympic team.

For one of his pre-title fights I think that he (Mora) should fight Sechew Powell, another fighter that he and Taylor had fought in the amateurs.

He was impressive against Regan. He does have a very effective, awkward style. That in and out, the little feints, and the fast hands. It's just too bad he doesn't have more power.
