Hitting harder after time of

Hey all,
Im an amateur boxer and train normally everyday apart from weekend. I dont normally take to long off but this time i didint train for a few days so i returned back to training and went on the heavy bag and noticed im punching harder and its definitly noticeable its happend a couple of times in the past but once i get back it to training hard yes my fitness levels are higher, but i notice ive lost some punching punching the reason i now this is because its happend so many times. Id like to know whats happening here so i can maintain this power i like, while being fit. I dont understand any help much appreciated.
