outside of boxing and judo and hockey, i haven't hit anyone or been hit since i was maybe 13 or 14, and i'm getting old now. try not to equate boxing with anything outside of sports. violence and assault are usually the byproducts of not having good judgement and making bad decisions in the heat of the moment. even if you can physically dominate someone who is bothering you, don't. it's a juvenile and retarded way of dealing with people in society. try to think ahead in terms of where you go and what you do so you won't be around stupid people and drunks. this site seems to be concerned with the great sport of boxing. if you are really worried about being violently attacked someday, maybe think about krav maga or kung fu or a defense purely focused on survival against bigger opponents and weaponry.
p.s. there are a lot of people who call themselves boxing trainers who don't know proper technique. if a trainer tries to instruct you to stand with your shoulders square to your opponent, walk away. he will teach you to get your face beaten in. boxing is a game of balance and angles and being able to protect yourself at all times. learn a proper stance and how to move from side to side and forward and back. learn to jab properly and throw it 1000x/day until your arm feels like it will fall off. learn to follow it up with a STRAIGHT right (not school yard overhand right) where you are not telegraphing the punch with your shoulders. then learn a left hook to the head and to the body. keep your hands up. work on those punches and move around the ring. learn to move your head. when you feel confident, find someone around your size that you can practice on and spar as many rounds as you can as often as you can.
