Got mah heavy bag today.

So one step is done. I need to get a jumprope, and I have a treadmill for running.
Should I run sprints? I'd rather run sprints...I'd always rather exert myself to the fullest for a relatively short time than run for a very long period of time, just because it takes so much time, but if that's what it takes...I also will be using the jumprope to use a suggestion I saw on this board, five three-minute rounds of the jumping with a minute break in between.
I have a weight bench as well, but it is difficult to do my max to fail when I have no spotter. I'll probably just stick to bodyweight exercises - pushups and pull-ups (even though I MIGHT be able to do one, not even sure about that, don't laugh) with some crunches and whatnot thrown in. I plan on writing up a whole schedule, soon.
The hardest part of any of this will be giving up the junk food. I take a multivitamin daily, but Doritos are just so damn GOOD...

Hey onrocket
Your workout sounds solid. I like that you're going to stick with body weight exercises. However, you might just want to work your max (on your bench) once a week. Just have a buddy stop by for a half an hour to give you a spot. I find that weight lifting once or twice a week is great for conditioning and strength.
Running - Sprints are fantastic. But just like weight lifting, i would throw in one or two slower/long-distance runs in each week. It's good to cover all the bases.
Junk food is a bitch. It's delicious and completely counterproductive. Ha!! Good luck with that one. Just remember - (so long as you're not training for the pros), everything in moderation. Don't just eliminate all of the crap you like to eat all at once. Keep everything within reason, and you'll be fine.
Good luck!
It's been awhile since this post and I've got all the pieces in place, and have been doing my new plan for about a week now (just now recovering from the flu or something though, had a fever for a couple days). Basically, a repetition of the following for a half-hour. (I'll probably increase that pretty soon):
- 200 skips on the rope (I very much appreciate your post in my headache thread, it might be breathing, as I really do hold my breath a lot, now that I think about it, and it might be the concrete I'm jumping on. I'll probably buy a mat for the jumprope and for...)
- 10 burpees (greatest bodyweight workout ever invented?)
- Three minute heavybag (I stay active, but I am not doing punch-outs or anything crazy)
I was thinking maybe I could add quarter-mile sprints to the beginning, or the end (or both!). And I'm sure I could get a friend to come over a couple days a week and spot me for my max. Maybe even my girlfriend, she lives close by and I'm weak, so it all works out...
I apologize for the ungodly amount of text I keep posting, I don't mean to write you a novel or anything, but I love the feedback.
