Beginners of boxing have an upward motion with feet. That is unnecessary. The purpose is to slide on canvas.
In fact, a boxer punches with his feet. A good way of practice is to go down on a deep slope in the basic position. A basic rule is to keep the both feet on the "ground", firmly when punching. The hard goal is to punch every time your both feet contact the canvas. On the other hand, it is more tedious to twist from hip than use footwork because oxygen consumption is lesser in using feet. Less muscles are used from the plain use of the feet. In future, I'll return to the proper use of the feet, Best Jr Junior.
