fighting spirit (hajime no ippo)

has anyone seen fighting spirit??...or hajime no ippo in japan?..it's a boxing anime..and the main guy uses a stance they call peek-a-boo..but it's different from the one i know..my question is..is it usable?...he basically peeks over the gloves...the palms are facing in..togheter..and he only peeks over the gloves with the elbows tucked in...so i wonder would u be able to use it in real life?

I own a lot of the series

I own a lot of the series and from what I can tell the style is based on cus d'amato's peekaboo style. To fight like that I would suggest watching a lot of early mike tyson, Floyd Patterson and Jose Torres footage
