I was wondering if a white collar fight would be a good idea for someone who is just starting out in boxing to get a good idea of how much someone would have to work on getting good so that one day they might get into an amateur fight? I would really like to know the answer to this question that I have.

Could go either way

Well, one of two things will likely happen. One, you'll fight and you'll get the boxing bug and be forever addicted to the sport. Two -- you'll get beat so badly that you will never step into a ring or near a boxing gym ever again.

Honestly, it makes absolutely zero sense to me to enter a boxing match without ever having done any training. Two people in a ring with no training can actually be dangerous. It isn't boxing, it's a fight.

Now, if you are actually training for the fight and learning some skills, and your opponent is as well, then I think it is an excellent idea if you are ready for it. It will take you to another level in your training.
