bit of help
Hey guys,
I have started amatuer boxing and have started fighting recently i have noticed that im nusually quite light for my devision and can afford to put on some weight what im wondering is if i could get into the weights a little bit more put on a little weight and hopefully gain a little punching power out of it whilst doing cardio as well to keep my speed up and overall fitness. So in conclusion id like to know what kind of weight training is best for increasing punching power like weight amount, amount of reps or is there another approach to it.
Anyway any help much appreciated thankyou.

See this post on adding mass, but to summarize - heavy weights, low reps and lots of rest and good quality food will put on muscle. Depending on how much you want to put on, I'd focus on the big muscle groups such as your legs, core, back and chest. Be sure to incorporate plyometric routines into your development to ensure the muscle you are putting on also has power and not just looks. While you can build a lot of muscle and it looks powerful, it isn't until you teach every little fiber to activate that you actually become powerful - that's what plyometric workouts do for you.
