Need a Timekeeper?

A lot of the workouts on this site and boxing workouts in general are based on 2 minute or 3 minute rounds followed by either 30 or 60 sec rest periods. Thus, it is imperative that you have a timekeepr of some sort to help you in your workouts.  Below you will find links to online round timers, round timers you can download and run off a computer or PDA and MP3 round timers that you can load up in your MP3 player.  Choose whichever works best for you and you're in business.

Online Round Timer

I found a site that with an awesome free timekeeper on it. All you do is go to their page, let it load up, and you have your very own timekeeper.

You can set it to 2 minute or 3 minute rounds. It has a nice big display to see the stopwatch type time and you can also set your rest periods for 30 sec or 60 sec. It even keeps track of how many rounds you do. It is a fully function boxing timekeeper and I give it two gloves up.

Now all you have to do is figure out how to put your computer close enough to your workout area to use it. I tried to load it up on my Dell Axim PDA, but unfortunately the browser on it doesn't support Shockwave files. I'm sure if I hunted around a bit I could find a solution. If someone knows how to get that page to load up on internet explorer on my Dell Axim - please let us know...

UPDATE: Rob over at 411boxing.com submitted two excellent little timekeepers that are standalone (see comments for writeup on the PC version) and now he made a Pocket PC version. To make it work you need to visit adobe.com and download their mobile flash player, install it, then grab the file from here. In the zip file you'll find the flash file (timekeeper_pda) and an .html file (timekeeper_pda1.html). Copy both to a directory on your pocket pc and then use your browser (IE or whatever) to look at the .html file and voila - you have a timekeeper on your PDA - perfect for taking with you to the gym...

Below find round timer files, including MP3 round timers and standalone computer or pda based round timers.

Enjoy.

Here's a timer that works in IE

http://www.speedbagforum.com/timer.html It works with IE 6.0 on my laptop, not sure about a PDA, but it's all javascript and DHTML so it should work fine.

Another Timer - Standalone

Rob C over at 411boxing.com submitted this timer. It is a zip file, you download and run on your PC (also a Mac version on his site). Now you don't have to be connected to the internet to have your timer running. It is a flash file when extracted and I personally vouch for the fact that it contains no virus' or other garbage.

It has more options to set than the round12 timer - more increments - 15sec up to 1 min rest, configurable warning time, and rounds that range from 30 sec to 15 minutes (for those awesome Cuban workouts...)

Thanks Rob.

File is attached above (timekeeper.zip).

I want to keep fighting because it is the only thing that keeps me out of the hamburger joints. If I don't fight, I'll eat this planet.
