Boxing has kind of lagged behind other sports when it comes to the amount of science, testing, and effort that has gone into devising breakthrough training programs.

The Russians explored plyometrics to enhance their athletic performance and the track and field world has proven the advantages plyometric training can provide.

Medicine ball training, bodyweight training, alternative methods of training such as kettlebells, sandbags, and improvised training are increasingly being touted as the training routines of the future. They definitely provide an alternative to free weights and when used in conjunction with them, round off a complete program.

A very effective program can be put together relying on bodyweight alone. There is no need to go out and buy thousands of dollars of equipment, which is something I love about boxing. The high intensity a bodyweight program can provide is ample for increasing strength, power, and agility.

These programs are instrumental in the How to Box 12 Week Program. Different phases target different aspects of your development and extremely targeted workouts can be devised in this regard.

As always, if you do not see the workouts right below here, then you need to register and upgrade to get access.

I have always adhered to two principles. The first one is to train hard and get in the best possible physical condition. The second is to forget all about the other fellow until you face him in the ring and the bell sounds for the fight.
